Tsunami

Coast area is particularly at higt risk of Tsunami.

When you are by the Coast
When you feel a strong earthquake or a long-lasting tremor, evacuate to a high place away from the coast area immediately! Do not return to the coast area until Tsunami Warning is cancelled because tsunamis strike repeatedly over a long period.
When you are the Riverside
There is a danger of flooding due to a tsunami, so stay away from the riverside and evacuate to a higher place.
When you are in the City
Evacuate to higher places.

Typhoon

As Kamakura is located by the sea, it is considered vulnerable to high waves and tides and storms during typhoons. Please consider the option of refraining from sightseeing when a typhoon is expected to approach.

When you are by the Coast
Stay away from coast areas due to increased risk of high waves and storm surges.

Heat stroke

What to do

Photochemical smog

Photochemical smog is more likely to occur mainly on days with high temperatures, humidity and no wind.

“Flickering eyes, sore eyes, sore throat, difficulty breathing, headache, nausea” and so on. If you have any of these symptoms, gargle or wash your face with water and rest indoors. Also, consider the wind direction and close the windows indoors.

If you have symptoms such as numbness in the hands and feet, difficulty breathing, or fainting, seek medical attention.

When a photochemical smog alert or warning is in effect, please note the following.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise outdoors as much as possible.
  • If you are not feeling well, rest indoors.
  • Close the windows in consideration of the wind direction.
