If a disaster occurs during sightseeing

Photochemical smog

Photochemical smog is more likely to occur mainly on days with high temperatures, humidity and no wind.

“Flickering eyes, sore eyes, sore throat, difficulty breathing, headache, nausea” and so on. If you have any of these symptoms, gargle or wash your face with water and rest indoors. Also, consider the wind direction and close the windows indoors.

If you have symptoms such as numbness in the hands and feet, difficulty breathing, or fainting, seek medical attention.

When a photochemical smog alert or warning is in effect, please note the following.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise outdoors as much as possible.
  • If you are not feeling well, rest indoors.
  • Close the windows in consideration of the wind direction.

In Kamakura City, based on photochemical smog warnings and warnings issued by the Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture, we broadcast disaster prevention administrative radio in the city, update the Kamakura City website, and distribute disaster prevention and safety information emails. If you receive a warning, be prepared to deal with it promptly.
